Congratulations to Vincent Paul Tigas for being the 2nd place of the vocal solo competition during the Digos Occidental Communication Arts Festival held @ Colorado Elementary School, Digos City on November 18, 2009. He is a grade V pupil of J. Alberca Elementary School.
Congratulations too to Roldan Piyayao, a grade I pupil, for being confident in delivering his piece in storytelling. Even if he didn’t make it to the top, still, I would like to congratulate him.
Kudos!

One of my Grade V students named Sheila Tanggaro approached me yesterday afternoon while I was applying a red lipstick on my lips.
She said, “Ma’am, di ko mueskwela ugma.” (“Ma’am, I will not go to school tomorrow.”)
“Y man?” I asked. (Why?)
“Wala na man gud mi’y bugas (We don’t have rice anymore.),” she answered directly and went away.
I was not able to utter a word.

Heheheh…I consider myself as a superwoman this week because I did the following:
* taught Grades V & VI simultaneously if Ma’am Vinluan was not around, since there’s no substitute teacher yet Ma’am V took care of the class of Te Ann (Te Ann is on leave, I will just make another article about Te Ann.)
* took charge of the school canteen
* made some researches about my research proposal
* conducted a part-time teaching at CJC
I thank God for the strength and wisdom to do my part. I’m grateful to God, too, for the joy I feel that I have contributed something for our school.

Hekasi stands for Heograpiya, Kasaysayan at Sibika at Kultura. (English Geography, History and Civics)
My class in Hekasi V starts at 2:00 PM and ends at 2:40 PM.
This afternoon, we talked about the faith of Muslim, Islam.
Here are some of the questions that were raised by my inquisitive students:
If you were the teacher, how would you answer their questions?

I turned on my laptop yesterday morning when I arrived in school. I intentionally brought it because two nights ago, only a blue screen would appear on screen.
Last week, we were still able to use my laptop. Laudy borrowed it last Friday and promised to return it on Sunday afternoon. There were video clips there that she used for the prayer and fasting of the Foursquare Youth in Banate.
Laudy kept her promise. So, Vyjane turned on the laptop on Sunday night when we arrived from the market. Only “Welcome …Windows Vista” would appear. Then, few minutes later, all we saw was a blue screen.
Yesterday afternoon, I brought my laptop at the CJC Computer Laboratory. I asked assistance from Sir Sergio Tecson. He opened it. He told me to prepare the installers. He told me that he would ask the technician to examine it. I asked how much I would pay. He said none. Hopefully, I will not really pay.
I passed by at the parsonage this morning because my installers were borrowed by Nenen when they had to reformat their computer. When I reached there, Rev. Bohol was eating breakfast and James was doing a household chore. I looked for Lester since Nenen told me to ask Lester about the installers. Lester handed to me my CD’s and some of theirs. Then, I went to school.
Few hours ago, I went again to the computer laboratory. The laptop was not yet repaired.
REFLECTION
My laptop collapsed just when I needed it the most. Yesterday, I had to use it in my Educational Technology class at CJC.
I have to outline my proposal in thesis writing.
I planned to save my files from the hard disk to a flash drive.
My sister Vyjane has to report about “Webpage” in her class tomorrow.
On top of these all, I realize that it’s not the laptop that really matters but it’s my attitude on how I handled each situation.
In real life, there are really times that what you treasure vanished just when you needed it the most.
Indeed, my Creator is still molding me.

Almost everyday, I am dealing with pupils…pupils with different personalities. This is my chosen vocation and I love it.
Sometimes, I laugh with my pupils. Sometimes, I get mad at them. There are times that I love to facilitate the learning process but honestly, there are also times that I’m tired of doing it.
This school year, I am still the Grade VI adviser. In my advisory class, I have 19 pupils. Wow! I like it. I am teaching them Filipino, English, Hekasi and EPP. I am also teaching Grade V pupils with a population of 45.(Huhuhu…bawi pud)I am teaching them Filipino, English and Hekasi.
Here is my class schedule during weekdays:
8:00-8:20 Character Education
8:20-9:20 English VI
9:20-9:35 Recess
9:35-10:35 English V
10:35-11:35 Filipino VI
11:35-1:00PM –Noon Break–
1:00-2:00 Filipino V
2:00-2:40 HEKASI V
2:40-3:20 HEKASI VI
3:20-4:00 Edukasyong Pantahanan at Pangkabuhayan (EPP)
Everyday, I am really doing my best to update my lesson plan. I am preparing short lesson plan for each subject. I have a collection of prototype lesson plans which I use as my references.
I am using Learning Guides in my English classes. These learning guides are provided by the Basic Education Assistance for Mindanao. These contain different suggested activities.
They are having a group activity in English.
I am also using Windows Multipoint in my HEKASI VI class. Sometimes, I use it in other subjects if I have prepared the lesson using the said program.

I am facing different challenges everyday as a teacher. I have to manage my time. I have to act as a mother, a friend, a counselor, an adviser, a manager and as a facilitator to my students.

The 4th Closing Exercises of Jolencio R. Alberca Elementary School or JRAES (in the school where I’m teaching) was held this afternoon. Supposedly, it must be started at 1:00 PM but due to some unavoidable circumstances, the program was started at 1:35 PM.
Our visitors were Mr. Rosito L. Asarak (Education Supervisor in Filipino), Mrs. Soliie Oliver (Education Supervisor in English), Dr. Marilyn A. Jairal (Digos Occidental District Supervisor), Hon. Michael Latasa at Hon. Antonio B. Jariol.
Ten boys and fifteen girls were officially declared as graduates in our school, this year. Congratulations to all my students!

The 25 graduates of batch 2009...
I’m glad that almost everything went well. Ma’am Jo was the master of the ceremony.
To God be the glory! He answered our prayer that it won’t rain. It’s because if it would rain, we would not able to hold the ceremony under the mango trees.
